Security Council extends mandate of AU mission in Somalia



The Security Council this week renewed its authorization of the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for a further six months. But two African diplomats feel that the Council should do more to help AMISOM bring peace to the troubled Horn of Africa country. Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo of South Africa says: “The African Union it’s like when your house is on fire the neighbours come with buckets of water, but the neighbours are not the fire engine. The fire engine is the United Nations.”
